Seasonal changes

Winter usually means we're using our appliances more than in the summer months. 

Things that can cause higher usage in winter:

  • Longer hot showers.
  • Need to use heaters and dryers more.
  • Lights on for longer.

We're also home a lot more to escape the cold, using TVs, computers and other appliances. 

Our top 5 winter energy saving tips

1. Heating accounts for 50% of household power use, heat only the rooms you're using to save. 

2. Up to 40% of winter warmth leaks through windows. Invest in good-quality lined curtains. 

3. Air leakage accounts for 15 - 25% of winter heat loss, use door snakes (or even a rolled-up towel) to stop draughts. 

4. Instead of heating your bedroom all night, use an electric blanket to heat your bed, turn it off or down once you’re in!

5. Close doors to rooms not being used, your heater won't have to work as hard to keep you warm.

  3. Behind the scenes, we'll start setting up your new aurora+ account services
  4. We're almost there. Less than 14 days after your new meter has been installed, your aurora+ welcome pack will be emailed to you with instructions on how to download the app and set up your password for your aurora+ online services.
  5. In the meantime, you can top up your account and see the progress of your account activation.
  6. Next, you receive your final bill for your previous plan

A notification will be sent once your account is fully active and your aurora+ app is now live and ready to use!

Our aurora+ team will be busy in the background setting up your new aurora+ experience and will only need to get in touch with you if your details don't match the account we have on file, otherwise the next time you hear from us it will be an email with your welcome pack.

3-5 days from signing up to aurora+ you will receive your final bill from your previous plan.

Finally, your aurora+ welcome pack will be emailed to you with instructions on how to download the app and set up your password for your aurora+ online services.

Competition Entry

Aurora Energy’s Winter Newsletter Competition Terms and Conditions
  1. These terms and conditions contain information about eligibility and the prize for Aurora Energy’s Winter Newsletter Competition (‘Competition’).
  2. The promoter of the Competition is Aurora Energy Pty Ltd (ABN 85 082 464 622) of GPO Box 191, Hobart, Tasmania 7001 (‘Promoter’).
  3. The Competition will commence on 15 June 2024 at 9:00am and conclude on 1 July at 5:00pm (the ‘Promotion Period’).
  4. Subject to clause 5, entrants are only eligible to enter the Competition once, with entry to the Competition being open to all visitors who (during the Promotion Period):
    1. complete and submit the competition entry form to the reasonable satisfaction of the Promoter located here: https://www.auroraenergy.com.au/winter-newsletter-competition
    2. are an active Aurora Energy residential customer who is listed as an account holder;
    3. agree to have any information they provide in the competition entry form, excluding personal information, published on any of the Promotor’s social media accounts. For the removal of doubt the Promoter will not publish personal information (including names or contact details) of any Entrants to this Competition;
    4. provide their full name and phone number; and
    5. accept these terms and conditions.
  5. Entrants who fulfil any of the following criteria are ineligible to enter or win the Competition:
    1. the Promoter’s employees or members of their immediate families;
    2. contractors of the Promoter or members of their immediate families;
    3. agents of the Promoter (including agencies associated with the Competition) or members of their immediate families; and
    4. people under 18 years of age.
  6. By entering into the Competition the entrant warrants to the Promoter that they satisfy the eligibility criterion and accept these terms and conditions.
  7. There is one prize to be drawn for the Competition, which is a Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link Purifying Heater valued at a recommend retail price of $599 .00 (‘Competition Prize’).
  8. The Promotor will determine the winner of the Competition Prize from the pool of eligible entrants by appointing a judge(s) who may use their sole and absolute discretion to determine their favourite response to the question contained in the competition entry form.
  9. The Promoter will notify the winner as soon as reasonably practicable, but not more than fourteen (14) days after the Promotion Period.
  10. The winner must confirm their acceptance of their Competition Prize via phone, email, or another form of written communication to the Promoter, within seven (7) days of receiving notice from the Promoter under clause 9.
  11. If the winner is unable to confirm their acceptance of their Competition Prize in accordance with clause 10 of these terms and conditions, then that winner will have no further right to claim their Competition Prize. The Promoter may in their sole and absolute discretion select another winner to receive the Competition Prize from the remaining pool of entrants of the Competition (and so on, until a winner confirms acceptance of the Competition Prize in accordance with clause 10 of these terms and conditions).
  12. Once the winner has confirmed their acceptance of the Competition Prize in accordance with these terms and conditions, the Promoter will facilitate delivery of their Competition Prize to the winner’s nominated delivery address as soon as reasonably practicable.
  13. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for tampering with the entry process or submitting an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  14. The Promoter reserves the right to request a winner to provide proof of identity and residency at the nominated delivery address. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter.
  15. If for any reason this Competition is not capable of running as planned (including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition), the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.
  16. The Promoter is not responsible for any problem with, or technical malfunction of, any computer online systems, servers, relevant service provider(s), computer equipment, software, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrants resulting from participation or sending or receiving of any communication or of any materials in the Competition.
  17. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of:
    1. any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control);
    2. any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
    3. any claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
    4. any variation in reward value to that stated in these terms and conditions;
    5. any tax liability incurred by a claimant; or
    6. use of the Competition Prize.
  18. The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspects of the Competition are final and binding on every entrant and no correspondence will be entered into.
  19. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the Competition. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
  20. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with the Competition is governed by the Promoter's privacy policy and applicable privacy law. A copy of the Promoter's privacy policy may be found at www.auroraenergy.com.au.
  21. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to vandalism, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the event and recommence it in its sole discretion from the start on the same conditions subject to applicable State regulations.
