Solar and Power Hours

Making the most of your Power Hours when you have solar requires a bit of thought when choosing your timeslot.

When you have solar, you're likely using it as it generates (with anything you don't use going into the grid). So, when the sun is shining and you're using electricity at home it's likely that you're using your own solar power for some or all of your usage (unless you're storing it in a battery).

When choosing your Power Hours, it can be better to choose a time when you're not generating and using your own solar power, this is because we can only reimburse you for the power you use from the grid.

Make the most out of Power Hours and choose:

  • A night time slot when available.
  • A cloudy day (this is when your solar may not be working at its peak and grid electricity is needed)
