Aurora Energy Supports City Mission Winter Appeal

In support of City Mission's Winter Relief Appeal, Aurora Energy recently hosted a community giving night in Launceston, bringing together local business, government, and community partners.

As part of the event, Aurora Energy provided each guest with a $250 donation voucher, which they could allocate to one of three City Mission services: Emergency Relief, Morton Place, or Crisis Accommodation.

Speakers included Minister for Energy and Renewables, Nick Duigan, Aurora Energy CEO Nigel Clark, and Manager of Safe Space Launceston, Ash Vandervelde, who shared insights into the challenges many Tasmanians are facing due to the ongoing cost of living pressures, highlighting the growing demand for support services across the state and the significant impact those services have on the community. 

Manager of Safe Space Launceston, Ash put it perfectly - "At its foundation, Safe Space Launceston provides a warm meal and a warm bed for people sleeping rough in our community. But in reality, we provide so much more than that. We provide safety. We provide dignity. We provide connection. And sometimes, we provide the very first glimpse of hope someone has experienced in a long time."

For more than 170 years, City Mission has supported communities across the North and North-West of Tasmania, making it Australia's second-oldest mission organisation. Through services including crisis accommodation, food assistance, emergency relief, and early intervention youth programs, City Mission provides vital support to some of the state's most vulnerable people.

With a total donation of $20,000 to City Mission, Aurora Energy is proud to help strengthen the organisation's important and invaluable work across Northern Tasmania.
