A story worthy of Hollywood: Ashish and Ankit

Imagine migrating to Australia from Nepal, settling in Tasmania and landing a role in a locally-owned call centre, only to bump into one of your childhood friends from your home country. Sounds like a movie, right? Well, this is the real-life story starring two of our very own Aurora Energy team!

Ashish and Ankit met in grade 6 at a primary school in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Fast forward a decade, and they both found their way to Australia and eventually to Tasmania, where they applied for permanent residency. As fate would have it, they found themselves working at Aurora Energy together and in the same team!

“It’s kind of weird thing like destiny that we ended up working together,” Ankit said. Ash mentioned, “I was really happy to find out Ankit was here, when I first found out, I was like, WOW!”

Despite being half a world away, they feel really at home in Tasmania. “Tasmania is very similar to Nepal with the weather and geography; I connect a lot to Hobart as it is small and feels like Nepal,” Ankit said
